The Vice-President: Academic & Provost has responsibility for the academic budget and planning, and academic hiring and personnel matters. A major priority is overseeing implementation of Laurier's current Academic Plan, which was passed by the Senate on 04 March 2010.
The University undertook a process to review and renew its Academic Plan in 2009-2010. The framework and working draft for the plan was developed in the summer of 2009 by the academic deans. Beginning in October 2009, the deans facilitated feedback discussions at Divisional Councils, and other appropriate Faculty venues, on the draft Academic Plan. Following this consultation process, Divisional Council feedback was considered by a working group of program coordinators, chairs and deans in January 2010. The final proposed Academic Plan was approved unanimously by the Senate in March 2010.
