Surplus Disposal and Inventory
Physical Resources is responsible for the administration of the custody and disposal of surplus inventory.
When a department has furniture or equipment it no longer uses, such items should be declared surplus. This is accomplished by completing a Surplus Disposal Form, and submitting it according to the instructions on the form.
Emphasis is given primarily to recycling equipment and materials through internal redistribution. Secondary consideration is given to disposal or sale to Laurier faculty, staff or students and finally to external private sale or by donation to local non-profit organizations.
The net proceeds on a sale, if any, are credited to the account specified on the Surplus Disposal Form.
The cost of moving items to and from the surplus location is charged by Physical Resources to the department requesting the move.
